Tape-in vs weft vs keratin tip: what should your salon stock?
Compare tape-in, machine weft, hand-tied weft, I-tip and K-tip hair extensions for salon use: install, reuse, client fit and how to order them wholesale.
Tape-ins
Flat, fast installs with adhesive tabs. Reusable with new tape. A strong default for salons starting an extension service.
Machine wefts
Best for volume across wide sections, sewn or on beaded rows. Fuller than hand-tied, easy to cut to size.
Hand-tied wefts
Thinner and flatter than machine wefts, so they sit close to the head. Popular for beaded row methods, but should not be cut.
I-tips and K-tips
Strand-by-strand methods. I-tips use micro beads with no heat or glue; K-tips are heat-fused keratin bonds. Both allow very flexible placement.
How to choose
Stock the method your stylists are trained in and your clients ask for. Many salons start with tape-ins plus one weft type, then add tips. Our product pages list the specs we make for each method.
